Adverb की परिभाषा ( definition of Adverb)

परिभाषा : क्रिया - विशेषण वह शब्द होता है जो Noun, Pronoun तथा Interjection को छोड़कर Parts of Speech की विशेषता प्रकट करता है
An adverb is a word which modifies any part of speech except a Noun, Pronoun and Interjection.
Example : 1. Shyama runs slowly.
Adv. (modifies the Verb ‘runs”) 2. She is a very beautiful girl.
Adv. (modifies the Adjective ‘beautiful”) 3. He walks very carefully
Adv. (modifies the Adverb ‘carefully’) 4. They lived exactly under my roof.
Adv. (modifies the Preposition ‘under’) 5. He comes only when I am not there
Adv. (modifies the Conjunction ‘when’)

Kinds of Adverb

Adverbs मुख्यतः तीन प्रकार के होते हैं :
(A) Simple Adverb
(B) Interrogative Adverb
(C) Relative Adverb

Simple Adverbs (साधारण क्रिया-विशेषण) :-

ये वे Adverbs हैं जो समय, स्थान, संख्या, रीति, परिमाण, कारण, स्वीकृति तथा निषेध में से कोई एक बात प्रकट करते हैं।
Adverbs के आठ भेद होते हैं
यहाँ पर केवल Adverbs of Manner का ही विस्तृत वर्णन किया गया है।

Adverbs of Manner ( रीतिवाचक क्रियाविशेषण) :-

इसमें कार्य करने की रीति प्रकट होती है।
Example : 1. The girl sang sweetly. 2. He speaks clearly. 3. He walks slowly. 4. He runs fast. पहचान – यह वाक्य की क्रिया में how लगाकर ज्ञात होते हैं।
Note – इनमें clearly, slowly, sweetly, hardly, badly, nicely, so, thus, well, ill, quietly, probably, certainly आदि आते हैं।
संकेत – ये Adverbs प्रायः Adjective के अंत में ly लगाकर बनाये जाते हैं।

Position of Adverb of Manner

सामान्यतया Adverb of Manner को क्रिया के बाद या वाक्य में object हो तो object के बाद ही रखा जाता है।
Example : (i) She sang a song beautifully. (ii) He ran quickly. परन्तु यदि हम किये गये कार्य पर विशेष जोर देना चाहते हैं तो इसे मुख्य क्रिया के पहले रखा जाता है।
Example : She slowly shut the door. यदि वाक्य Passive Voice में है तो इसे क्रिया की Third From के ठीक पहले ही रखा जाता है।
Example : I was well treated by her.
